Our extra-curricular opportunities
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and performing arts
Our students take part in weekly music, drama, and art classes, where they can explore their creativity and develop confidence in expressing themselves. At assemblies and presentation nights, they enjoy the opportunity to share their performances with the school community.
Currabubula also proudly hosts the annual Small Schools Art Show, showcasing artwork from students across the region and celebrating the creative talents of our young artists.
STEM
We take part in a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities both in school and through outside opportunities. Even though our school is small, we are dedicated to giving students fun, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity and creativity. In school, students join STEM clubs, do experiments, and work on projects that build problem-solving and thinking skills. Outside of school, we take part in local and regional STEM events, workshops, and competitions. These activities help students connect with others and see how STEM is used in the real world.
Sports
Sports play an important role in our school, and students are encouraged to take part in a range of activities both during and after school. Even though we are a small school, we are proud of our strong team spirit and enthusiasm. Students have the chance to join school teams, compete in local and regional events, and take part in friendly matches with other schools. We believe that sports help build confidence, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. Whether it's football, athletics, or other sports, there is something for everyone to enjoy and be a part of.
Small School Alliance
Each year our students come together with other small schools in the area to collaborate, compete, and build new friendships. These shared experiences include activities such as NAIDOC Day, sporting events, spelling bees, and Harmony Day.
Trips and excursions
Every second year, our Year 5–6 students travel to Canberra for their major excursion, while Years 3–4 attend the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Tea Gardens.
In addition, all students take part in a range of excursions throughout the school year. These experiences include leadership courses, science and technology days, theatre performances, and other exciting learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.
